We can offer a range of services and we pride ourselves in giving personal attention to every funeral. The ceremony can be religious or non-religious and we have a range of coffins from veneer to solid wood or environmental choices such as wicker or bamboo.

Ceremony Room

We are pleased to introduce our brand-new ceremony room at our Gosport branch in Forton Road. We have created a modern space that has all you need for a celebration of life or memorial service. With provision for music and a screen for videos or photographs we can offer a fresh alternative to the crematorium or cemetery chapels and have the unique opportunity to be flexible with length of service time or the chance to decorate the room in a suitable way for your loved one.

Testimonials

“I have used Coghlan’s services a few times over the years and I would never go anywhere else. They truly are the best at what they do. The whole team are amazing and will go above and beyond to meet your wishes. I had a particular request, and they managed to do it for me. So impressive.

The amount of care and respect shown on the day is faultless. But they are also very approachable and helpful should you need it.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the person who had passed away it was important to me to send him on his final journey the best way i could. That meant Coghlan’s. The best.

Due to my special request i expected the invoice to be more than it was. But even without that request i genuinely believe their pricing to be fair. I appreciate there are cheaper alternatives these days but that wasn’t for me. I would have felt like i was throwing him away.

I honestly cannot recommend them highly enough. Georgie is just the nicest lady and listens to every wish you have and Debbie, the celebrant they have, is just so lovely and warm.

They are both the kind of people you need around you at a difficult time.”

Mrs CW

“Perfect, kind and sensitive service. I cannot speak highly enough of the exemplary way that everything was handled when my Mum sadly passed away in August. I had a brief preliminary chat with ‘Georgie’ when it was clear that we would be needing their services within a day or two. She was lovely and understood my need to keep things light-hearted, she assured me that she was personally available 24 hours a day to help when the time came. She was as good as her word and came out on a Sunday at exactly the time I asked. My sister and I then went to see her a few days later and made all the arrangements. Nothing, absolutely nothing was too much trouble. We had lots of very specific requests which we wanted to incorporate in order to really celebrate Mum’s life as we felt she would have wanted. Coghlan’s accommodated every single thing without a murmur of protest, even though I am sure some things were quite inconvenient for them. Georgie introduced us to ‘Sally’ who actually conducted Mum’s funeral and she was a joy to deal with. Everybody was extremely pleasant but very efficient. They organised a Celebrant with exactly the kind of approach which I asked for and in short did a faultless job. When the bill arrived I was pleasantly surprised, it was exactly in line with what they had told me to expect and perfectly reasonable. I obviously don’t want to need their services again but when that day arrives, I would have no doubts about using them again.”

From Mr TL

“I have used M Coghlan Ltd twice this year. There were very understanding, professional and compassionate about our wishes for the funerals. Extremely helpful throughout the whole process.”

From Mr MW

“Coghlan Funeral Directors provided a truly caring and supportive service during a very difficult time. They were calm, patient, and understanding throughout the whole process, guiding us with compassion and professionalism. Everything was handled with dignity, and their attention to detail helped make a hard situation a little easier. We are very grateful for their kindness and the respectful way they looked after our family.”

From Mr BC

“From the moment we called into Coghlan’s to book an appointment and were met by Georgie, who dropped everything to talk us through the funeral process straightaway, we were impressed by their professionalism and compassion. The team could not have been more helpful and treated our deceased father with the utmost respect. Through problems with coordinating a cremation time which would enable us to have the wake at our venue of choice to preparing dad so that members of our family could say goodbye to him in the peace and tranquillity of their chapel of rest we could not fault their service. The celebrant, Lisa, that they introduced us to managed to capture a wonderful picture of our dad from speaking to us and passed it onto the congregation on the day. The funeral was the respectful celebration of our dad’s life that we so wanted it to be and that was in no small part due to this wonderful team. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone in this difficult situation.”

From Mrs JL

“Tom, on behalf of my brother and I, would just like to thank you again and the team at Coghlan’s for your sensitive care and support for my father’s funeral at a difficult time, especially being so close to my mother’s passing.

I thought the day of the funeral went very well in the circumstances and in this respect could you please also pass on my thanks to Bishop Paul Miles-Knight who delivered an excellent thoughtful and comforting service.

I’m sure my dad would have been pleased.”

Mr AL

“On behalf of Julie and all Peggy’s family, may I thank everyone at Coghlan’s for yesterday’s funeral. Everything went without a hitch and was as perfect as these things can be. You and your colleagues were easy to deal with and all modifications we requested were made without issue. We are very grateful.

We were also very pleased with Sharon. We hit it off as soon as she arrived for the prep meeting and she stayed for 2 hours getting to know Peggy and the rest of us. Many people commented at the wake about how well she ran the service. She did thing exactly as we had asked and it was so smoothly done.

The atmosphere was relaxed and one of celebration of Peggy. Even the 2 two year olds wandering about chatting and singing was a perfect metaphor for the cycle of life as we said goodbye to a 95 year old.”

“Hi Georgie, firstly the most enormous thank you, a truly heart felt thank you for your care and consideration during g Mum’s funeral, it was so beautifully handled our thanks to all involved.  It was a beautiful occasion.  Once again thank you for your professionalism and your friendship.

Thank you so much for guiding us through the funeral for Ruby. It all went so well and it was good to see the extended family and Ruby’s friends. Verity said on the way home “I don’t know why, but I feel better about it all now” – and that, as we said, is why you do these things – a time to remember and then look forward.”

“To Georgie, Lisa & colleagues, Simon, Gary & myself would like to thank you both for making our Mum’s funeral service very special and for all the support you gave us throughout that very sad period. Everybody said what a lovely, personal service it was…which it was. So thank you from us all.”

“To Sally and the whole team at Coghlans

We wanted to write and thank you all for the very professional, compassionate and respectful way that you conducted our late mother’s funeral arrangements. This was right from the start when Tom and his colleague attended Parker Meadows to transfer mum to your Chapel of Rest. Sally was meticulously helpful with us when making arrangements for the funeral services and suggesting ideas that we hadn’t even thought of. The staff prepared mum beautifully on the occasions we came to visit her in the Chapel of Rest. Georgie was very patient with us in the design of, and the amendments to the order of service, as well as curating the appropriate music and facilitating the visual tribute for the crematorium. On the day of the funeral, it was so touching for Mum to be driven past Parker Meadows and ‘walked’ past her home in Scafell Avenue. Sally co-ordinated every aspect for the funeral perfectly and it was so reassuring when she regularly appeared in front of us to lead us on to the next stage.

Mum was shown dignity and respect at all times, as we were and for that we are immensely grateful.

We are so pleased we chose Coghlans.

Sincere thanks to every member of the team.”

Mrs AR

“We would like to thank you all for such a professional service that you did for us, from start  to finish. It made the whole process run so smoothly.”

Mr DA

“Thank you for your help arranging my uncle’s funeral as it wasn’t as straight forward as normal arrangements. You dealt with the paperwork and arrangements completely, professionally and with care. Thank you.”

Mrs RP

“Dear Tom & team

Thank you for your compassion and kindness in connection with the funeral of my late father. Your guidance through the whole “business of death” process was, whilst professional and efficient, never rushed and always sensitive and caring.

I was personally dreading the entire experience on top of losing my lovely Dad, but from the initial our of hours and surreal phone call to Tom, you have all provided faultless service. It was an emotional day but everything you organised was absolutely perfect for my Dad, and I cannot express enough the importance of your quiet, dignified and reassuring presence.”

Mrs JH

“Thank you so much for everything. You were all fantastic.”

Mrs SM

“Dear Kevin, Sally & team

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the professionalism that you demonstrated in the way in which you handled our mum’s funeral. We were particularly grateful for the many ways you took some of the stress away from us at a time that could be particularly challenging. Thanks again.”
