Cremation
There are three crematoriums within the area. Portchester Crematorium, Wessex Vale in Hedge End and The Oaks Crematorium in Havant. The cremated remains should be ready for collection two to three days following the service and will usually be collected by the funeral
Many local cemeteries and churchyards have specific cremation plots and some of these allow memorials, as do the privately owned Portchester Memorial Gardens, which is located next to the Crematorium in Portchester.
If the deceased has been in the Navy, we can arrange for the Navy to bury the ashes at sea. In this
Burial
Burials can take place in a churchyard, municipal cemetery or a woodland/green burial site. However, most churchyards are nearly full, and therefore burials could only take place in existing graves.
Some municipal cemeteries have a chapel where services can be held. Woodland or green burial sites have restrictions on the type of coffin to be used and also any clothing worn by the deceased, so advice needs to be sought.
